Michael Boissevain

I am a poet by avocation and a clinical psychologist by training. I have been writing poetry my whole long life, long before I became a psychologist, and even before I attended the University of Victoria creative writing program between 1974 and 1976, where I studied with Robin Skelton, Dirk Wynand, and John Montague. The themes that I gravitate toward in my writing include family, the land upon which I grew up and upon which I continue to grow, the environment writ large, and the politics of the complicated world that we all inhabit. Poetry frequently informs my work as a psychologist and often, my work as a psychologist feeds my poetry. I have had poems published in a number of journals and have been shortlisted for the Raven Press chapbook competition.
